MAKE OF THE TEAM

Lead UX/UI Designer- Myself
Principle UX Researcher- Elle Hernandez

KEY GOAL

Modernize and streamline the inputs for RFP bids while improving the process for each business type.

MY ROLE

I was the lead UX designer for this project. I worked with my UX researcher to meet with members of all 12 businesses within NextEra that feed inputs into RFPs for potential bids.

I conducted research sessions, using that information and feedback to directly guide designs and flows. I was the sole UI designer on this project, creating low fidelity mocks from research, then conducting usability tests and iterating before handing over production ready designs and working with developers during implementation.

UNDERSTANDING THE USER

For this product, we had 12 different user personas to solution for. We gained our understanding of each user through several rounds of interviews with various team members from each business type within the company. Along with the interviews we also shadowed a few of them and we used SMEs from each business to make sure everything was in-line with their needs and pain-points.

LESSONS LEARNED

This project was the most user-influenced projectI've worked on. It was such a great learning experience in working hand-in-hand with users and relying on their feedback to directly influence the end product.

I grew so much in all areas, but mostly on the research side of things. I loved working with my development team and learning to make quick tweaks as needed with them. Overall this was one of my favorite projects I've worked on. It was a complex challenge with many layers to unfold and it was a lot of fun figuring it all out and creating a lovable, usable product.
